Don’t rush in!
From the last Council meeting on 22 September 2021, we know that GBIP and Council “have until 1 November 2021 to enter into all of the Framework Documents (or such later date agreed in writing) before the Framework Agreement automatically terminates.”
We’ve asked Council whether that date has been extended, but have not received a response. Given the current extreme uncertainty surrounding the Emu Swamp Dam project, hopefully Council is acting prudently and has extended that date until the status of the project has been clarified.
We think it is critical to say that NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO RUSH INTO DOCUMENTS. Until the results of the tender process are known and have been reviewed, there could be significant changes to the project. Council should wait until this is clear before locking in the terms of legal documents.
